About our team

Tejas Robotics is a designer and manufacturer of custom-made mobile robots and robotic manipulators for research, education, competition and hobby purposes. We build mobile robots, robotic arms, custom electronic boards and software. Our workshop is located in Beckville, Texas, where we have welding, metal processing and electric equipment.

Our expertise

Tejas Robotics is a partner of Skilligent. We use their robot software with robot learning from demonstration and robot behavior control capabilities to control our robots. Most of our robots interact with humans through a social interaction interface based on gestures and sounds. We've built a flexible robotic manipulator according to Skilligent's guidelines (read their technical article titled "Criteria for selection of robotic manipulators for trainable robots"). Through partnership with Skilligent, we became proficient in robot learning from demonstration [PDF] technologies.

We use DC motor controllers with closed loop control from Roboteq on most of our mobile robots and robotic arms. Hiwin linear actuators are very handy for use in robotics arms. We found a few ways to modify the standard actuators for better use in the robotic arms. Lynxmotion servomotor controllers are easy to use for standard hobby servos.

Our robotic arms can lift up to 12lbs of weight - and it can be made stronger if needed.

Besides ground robots, Tejas Robotics took part in a UAV project - a flying robot project. That was fun.
